Award-Winning Movies Applauded at New Delhi Festival

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian movies ‘That Night’s Train’ and ‘The Inheritance’ have been honored at the 4th edition of the New Delhi Film Festival (NDFF) in India.
Linda Kiani, actress of ‘The Inheritance’, received the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and ‘That Night’s Train’ won Best Adaptation Screenplay Award as well as Red Rose Award for Best Released Film during January 2018 to November 2020. Both movies were honored at the Feature Fiction Category of the Indian event.
Directed by Hamid-Reza Qotbi, the 85-minute ‘That Night’s Train’ tells the story of a little girl who meets a female writer on a train.
The writer promises to call and visit her later. The promise, in the writer’s mind, is just a theme for her new story, but so serious for the little kid.
To overcome the sadness the kid endures, her father who is an author himself comes to rescue.
The events that follow make the border between reality and fantasy blurry and obscure.
Afshin Hashemi, Siamak Safari, Behnaz Naderi, Maryam Boubani, and Bahram Shakeri star in the film.
‘That Night’s Train’ has so far participated in a number of global events, including the Schlingel International Film Festival in Germany, the Cinekid Festival in the Netherlands, the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain, the Chennai International Film Festival in India, and the 49th Roshd International Film Festival in Iran, where it won the best film award.
‘The Inheritance’, directed by Sadeq Sadeq-Daqiqi, is about Adel, a 16-year-old boy whose parents have divorced from one another and his mother lives abroad.
He lives a very happy and extravagant life with his father in Tehran, until his relatives who live in another province ask his father to remarry.
Despite Adel’s disapproval, his father travels there in hopes of getting married. However, he dies in a tragic accident on the way.
Adel’s relatives want to take over his guardianship until the age of 18 so he can decide wisely regarding his inheritance. However, Adel wants his independence immediately.
Sam Derakhshani, Ahmad Mehranfar, Ladan Mostofi, Linda Kiani, Parham Deldar, Javad Fouladi, and Jamshid Hashempour are on the cast list of the 92-minute ‘The Inheritance’.
‘Cinema Shahre Gheseh’ directed and written by Keyvan Ali-Mohammadi and Ali-Akbar Heidari as well as ‘Taxi is Here’ by Sara Aqababaeeian, both from Iran, were also nominated at the 4th NDFF, but failed to receive any award.
The opening ceremony of the 4th NDFF was cancelled due to the coronavirus situation in India. The closing ceremony of the gala went online and announced the winners on March 28, 2021.
