Official: Iran Able to Produce 30mn Masks Per Day

TEHRAN (Fars) - Head of Iran Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) Mohammad Reza Shanehsaz announced on Sunday that the country’s capacity to produce anti-coronavirus masks has increased to 30mln on a daily basis.
"At present, 7.4 tons of melt-blown (fabric) is produced in the country every day which can be used to manufacture 15mln masks and we should double the amount of produced melt-blown to reach 30mln masks and we hope to achieve this goal in the next few days,” Shanehsaz said.
He added that fortunately, Iranian manufacturers are providing the country’s needs to masks very well, noting that at present 51mln masks have been stored.
Shanehsaz said that at present 4mln masks, including 1.8mln masks for clinical centers and 2.2mln masks for the drug stores are being distributed across the country every day.
Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said earlier this month that his country is one of the pioneers in producing ventilator, face mask and other data-x-items needed in the battle against COVID-19.
Rahmani-Fazli said that Iran has become one of the leading nations in production of various equipment and data-x-items needed for the fight against coronavirus epidemic.
He added that good reports have been received on producing qualified equipment, including ventilators, oxygen generators and other equipment.
Rahmani Fazli further noted that the ministry of industry, mine and trade is currently trying to improve the quality of coronavirus-related data-x-items to meet local needs while mulling the export of the oversupply.
