500 Palestinian Prisoners in Zionist Regime’s Jails for 15 Years

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – More than 500 Palestinian prisoners have been detained in the Zionist regime’s prisons for 15 years, specialist in Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdul Naser Ferwaneh, says.
In a press release, Ferwaneh also said 50 Palestinian prisoners have been held in the occupying regime’s detention for more than 20 years.
"This number will become 300 in just two year,” he said.
He called on all the Palestinians, in particular the resistance movements, to deal with the issue.
"Freeing prisoners is not only a national, religious, political, humanitarian and ethical duty, but it is a vital necessity to reinforce the resistance culture among the Palestinians,” he said.
More than 7,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in some 17 Israeli jails, with dozens of them serving multiple life sentences.
Over 350 detainees, including women and minors, are under Israel’s administrative detention.
The administrative detention, which is a form of imprisonment without trial or charge, allows authorities to incarcerate Palestinians for up to six months. The duration could be extended for an infinite number of times.
The detention takes place on orders from a military commander and on the basis of what the Zionist regime describes as ‘secret’ evidence.
Some prisoners have been held in administrative detention for up to 11 years.
