Driver Injured After MP’s Car Attacked


TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Unknown men riding pillion have attacked the car of Iranian lawmaker Ahmad Salek in Tehran, injuring his driver.
Salek told Tasnim news agency that his car was attacked by unidentified assailants on Sunday evening, noting that his driver had been shot in the leg and undergone surgery.
He has recovered from the injury, said the cleric who represents the city of Isfahan in parliament.
Salek further dismissed reports of an assassination attempt, saying the motive behind the attack was under investigation by the police.
The 73-year-old cleric has been elected to the Iranian parliament for five terms.
