Pahlevani, Zoorkhaneh Rituals Among Iranian Cultural Heritage: Official
ISFAHAN (IRNA) – Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in International Affairs said that Zoorkhaneh sports and Pahlevani wrestling are among Iran's intangible cultural heritage, which should be introduced to the world.
Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks on the sidelines of meeting of International Intangible Cultural Heritage Organization here on Friday evening.
He added that Islam pays attention to gallantry and magnanimity.
Velayati continued that all sport equipment of Zoorkhaneh is taken from war weapons and Iranians have been maintaining their bodies ready to defend their country with such physical exercises.
He added that Pahlevani wrestling and Zoorkhaneh sports are in programs of international festival of intangible cultural heritage and stressed that to introduce and develop these authentic Iranian sports bigger steps should be taken in the international level.
The meeting and festival of the ICH started its 3-day activities on Thursday morning in Isfahan.
