Rouhani, Putin, Erdogan to Meet in Istanbul
ANKARA (Dispatches) -- Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan is to meet his Iranian and Russian counterparts Hassan Rouhani and Vladimir Putin in Istanbul Wednesday to discuss the Syrian conflict.
Iran and Russia back Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, while Turkey has called for him to be ousted and has supported militants. Turkey also wants to push deeper into northwest Syria to drive out YPG rebels, threatening relations with the U.S. The three countries have worked together before despite their different positions.
