Reports of Attack on Oil Pipeline ‘Sheer Lies’
TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Iranian officials on Sunday rejected media reports that a terrorist group had attacked the country's oil pipeline in Omidiyeh region in the southern province of Khuzestan.
Officials at the Aqajari Oil and Gas Company which is responsible for protection and maintenance of oil and gas lines in Omidiyeh said claims that the Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group had attacked the oil pipeline were "sheer lies".
The statement came after claims that the terrorist group which is linked to Nusra Front had carried out an attack on the oil pipeline in the country’s Khuzestan province.
The ground forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) killed the ringleader of Ansar al-Furqan Jalil Qanbar Zehi during clashes in the Qasr-e Qand region in southeastern Iran earlier this year.
IRGC's public relations office announced in June that several terrorists were killed or wounded in the operation.
