Iran Taking Big Steps in Hypnodontics

TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran has made considerable advances in hypnosis, using this method in dentistry through education and training, despite international sanctions in almost all aspects of research during the last decade.
The outcome of world's first congress on Hypnodontics which was held by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences showed that Iran is taking significant steps in Hypnodontics and using hypnosis in non-invasive medical therapy.
"Hypnosis is very important for the new era of treatment not using any painkillers or anesthesia during the process even in surgery when the patients are completely conscious and under the control of the doctor.
I have been using hypnosis for 32 years and I'm here to learn some new methods and teach my experiences,” said Dr. Max Peter Carlo Lang, Head of the society of hypnosis of Switzerland.
He stated that "The level of this congress surprised me because I have a workshop here and the Iranian speakers are well educated and I think the rank of Iranian dentists is the same as international figures. The second thing that quite surprised me is the number of participants who want to learn hypnosis in their field especially in dentistry.”

"My specialty is facial pain and I've done some research about what happens in our brain when we feel pain, Hypnodontics means using hypnosis in dentistry” said Dr. Randi Abrahamsen, Board member of the Danish Society for Clinical Hypnosis.
She emphasized that "I have done hypnosis for more than 30 years and I have very good experience about the outstanding results when binding hypnosis to all kind of treatments. The main focus of my study is preventing dental phobia when people come to the dentists.
