Sowing Discord in Mideast

Sowing Discord in Mideast

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Takfiri terrorist groups like ISIL and Al-Qaeda have been created to spread atrocities and sow discord among Muslims.

In his words:  "The deceitful enemy is bent on fanning the flame of civil wars among Muslims in order to deviate motivations for resistance and struggle among them and create a safe margin for the Zionist regime and other agents of Arrogance that are true enemies. Launching Takfiri terrorist groups and the likes of them in countries located in West Asia region is a consequence of this treacherous policy. This is a warning for all of us to put the issue of unity among Muslims on top of our national and international duties.”

Without question, the United States and its regional minions are creating crisis and havoc in the Muslim world through terrorism, discord on the pretext of war on terror. They seek to offset the region’s socio-economic and political affairs, and provoke an all-out war between Shias and Sunnis. They also seek to save their terrorist proxies in places like Iraq and Syria.

It is true that the regime changers have failed to fulfill their stated objectives in the bogus war on terror, but that doesn’t mean they will stop short of pursuing their main goal: Sowing discord and distrust, and ultimately formulating an all-out war based on a complex mix of nationalism, terrorism and religion. By creating ISIL, their plan is now well underway. So the greatest duty is to keep the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and unity intact, as it is the only way out of the current predicament, which has nothing to do with Islam.

The late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, once said: "Those who sow discord are neither Sunni nor Shia; they are agents of the superpowers, conspiring for the enemies of Islam. If brotherhood comes to the fore among Islamic countries, such will become a great power. Shia and Sunni brothers should avoid dispute as it only benefits those who follow neither Shia nor Sunni beliefs."

In any case, the bedrock of Islamic jurisprudence and theology is unity - the oneness of God, the oneness of God's message and the oneness of Muslim community. Despite difficulties, Muslims can and should stay vigilant against the corruptive incitements of such defeatists and learn the meaning and the contents and the significance of brotherhood and unity commanded by Allah.

In sum, as maintained by Ayatollah Khamenei, "Dispute does benefit only those who follow neither Shia nor Sunni beliefs,” like the United States and its silent partners, who are reaping the benefits of the current discord and terrorism across the Middle East and North Africa.

If Muslim nations do arrange an acceptable attempt, they can defeat Washington’s ISIL proxy forces and revoke their problems and sufferings once and for all. If the directive motion of their true leaders is delayed and ignored, even for a day, they will get wronged, tragically and completely. Today is the day of unity. It’s not a day to be divided.
