U.S. ‘Recruiting Accomplice for Crime’ With Reward for Informants
VIENNA -- Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna has strongly condemned Washington’s newly announced reward targeting Iran’s nuclear program, describing it as an attempt to recruit accomplices for assassinations and further aggression.
In a post on X, the Iranian mission wrote: “The U.S. new so-called REWARD FOR JUSTICE is actually recruiting ACCOMPLICE FOR CRIME.”
It pointed to the record of Washington and Israel, including the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists, repeated acts of sabotage against Iran’s nuclear facilities and aerial bombardments of those sites.
“Any state, government entity, international organization, including the IAEA, or non-state actor that provides information facilitating the commission of such crimes is subject to international legal responsibility,” the mission warned.
It further stressed that individuals knowingly assisting or facilitating such “atrocities,” whether directly or indirectly, could face individual criminal liability alongside those who carry them out.
“A bounty neither erases complicity nor brings immunity. ACCOUNTABILITY will follow,” the statement said. The mission ended its post with a tribute to the scientists assassinated in the attacks, declaring: “Our martyred scientists are our witnesses.”
The post included a graphic naming 18 Iranian scientists martyred during U.S.-Israeli aggressions or in terrorist attacks.
The condemnation followed Washington’s announcement on Friday of a reward of up to $20 million for information concerning Iran’s nuclear facilities, equipment, scientific personnel and their movements. The U.S. State Department’s Rewards for Justice program said the offer included possible relocation for informants.
The announcement has raised questions about President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions that U.S. strikes had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, including his claim that American forces had “obliterated” the facilities.
On June 13, 2025, Israel launched
a large-scale terrorist assault on Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, military installations, senior commanders and nuclear scientists. The U.S. joined the aggression overnight on June 21-22, bombing nuclear facilities in Isfahan Province.
Iran responded with drone and missile strikes against Israel and, on June 23, targeted the U.S. al-Udeid airbase in Qatar. On February 28, 2026, the U.S. and Israel launched a second terrorist war on Iran while indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington were still underway. Following that aggression, Iran launched missile and drone attacks against Israel and U.S. military installations in the region.
