Iranian Airports Record 54,438 Flights
TEHRAN – Iranian airports handled 54,438 flights and more than 5.5 million passengers during the first half of the Iranian calendar year 1405 (March–September 2026), according to the head of the Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company.
Morteza Dehghan said the company recorded 54,438 aircraft takeoffs and landings at its airports during the six-month period, including 47,850 domestic flights and 6,588 international flights.
He added that the airports handled 5,509,268 passengers during the same period, of whom 4,709,190 traveled on domestic flights and 800,078 on international routes.
Dehghan said Mashhad Airport recorded the highest number of domestic flights, with 8,041, followed by Mehrabad Airport with 7,454 and Shiraz Airport with 2,219.
Regarding international flights, Dehghan said Najaf topped the list with 1,192 flights, followed by Baghdad with 680 and Istanbul with 561.
These figures are particularly notable given that the U.S. and the Zionist regime launched a war against Iran on February 28, 2026, during which the country was forced to suspend flight operations for a period of time. Despite these disruptions, Iranian airports recorded more than 54,000 flights and handled over 5.5 million passengers during the first half of the year
