Two Terrorists Executed in Isfahan for Martyring Four Police Officers

TEHRAN -- Two terrorists were executed on Tuesday after being convicted of killing four police officers during a heinous and brutal incident in the central city of Isfahan in January, the judiciary’s media center said.
The two, identified as Amirhussein Maleki and Amirhussein Ebrahimi, were hanged after their cases were reviewed and the death sentences upheld by the Supreme Court, the judiciary said in a statement.
The statement said that on Jan. 8, 2026, a group of rioters, some of whom were related to or acquainted with one another, carried out a horrific crime that led to the innocent martyrdom of four unarmed officers of the Law Enforcement Command (Faraja).
According to the statement, the group possessed firearms and various bladed weapons including qamas, knives, axes and cleavers, as well as incendiary materials and Molotov cocktails, and carried out extensive destruction of public and private property, attacking civilians and security forces and setting fire to buildings, a police station and public places, turning the area into a scene of terror and insecurity.
Based on statements from detained rioters, footage overlooking the scene and testimony from informants, the criminals, after committing their heinous and heartrending crime, spent three hours desecrating the bodies of the martyrs and dancing on top of them, the statement said.
After the main perpetrators were identified and arrested, the case was heard with several defendants, and based on the rulings issued, a number of defendants who played a significant role in the crime were sentenced to death, it said.
A notable point in the case, the statement said, was the confession of the majority of defendants against one another, with 20 defendants present at the scene reconstruction describing the entire incident.
Ebrahimi, son of Rasoul, and Maleki, son of Abolfazl, were among the main perpetrators of the crime and, based on documentation, their own confessions and the confessions of other defendants, were present at the scene armed and carried out numerous criminal acts, it said.
According to a Faraja report, Ebrahimi was present at Aliakhani Square on Jan. 8 with a red scarf covering his head and face, the statement said. According to other defendants present with him, Ebrahimi carried a cleaver at the scene and destroyed public places and property and assaulted security officers.
Ebrahimi fled after the crime and hid at the home of a relative, where he was immediately identified and arrested along with his brother, who had participated in the riots, it said. At the time of arrest, several bladed weapons including qama and cleaver blades, knives, an axe, an electric shocker and brass knuckles were seized from the defendant.
Maleki, known as “Daei-chi,” was actively present at the scene and carried a bladed weapon throughout, the statement said. Evidence and documentation, mobile phone tracking, the terrorist’s account of the catastrophe and other rioters’ statements showed he was present at the scene and played a role in the heinous killing of the police officers, it said.
After their arrest, the case was heard in the judiciary, and the terrorists were sentenced to death for “moharebeh” (waging war against God) and “corruption on earth” through acts against national security that caused severe disruption to public order and widespread insecurity, by drawing weapons and creating terror and insecurity, it said.
The rulings were reviewed by the Supreme Court after the terrorists appealed and were upheld by the court’s judges given the documentation and the heinous crime, and were carried out on Tuesday morning, the statement said.
