Minister: U.S. Efforts to Collapse Iran’s Economy Have Failed

TEHRAN - Iran’s Economy
Minister Ali Madanizadeh has said that despite U.S. economic pressure and sanctions, repeated attempts by Iran’s enemies to bring the country’s economy to collapse had failed.
Seyyed Ali Madani-Zadeh, Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, is in Istanbul, Turkey, to attend the 42nd meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC).
Referring to the impact of developments in the region in recent months on the economies of Islamic countries, he said sharp increases in energy prices, inflation and economic recession had affected many countries in the region, and that these problems were not limited to Iran.
The mimnister added that reviewing the economic conditions resulting from recent regional developments and finding ways to address their consequences would be among the main topics of discussions among member states at the COMCEC meeting.
Madanizadeh also highlighted the importance of expanding foreign trade, saying that he would hold bilateral meetings with the economy and trade ministers of several participating countries on the sidelines of the meeting. These talks, he said, would follow economic consultations held in recent weeks, aimed at expanding trade cooperation and countering the impact of U.S. sanctions.
Emphasizing the failure of external pressure to bring down Iran’s economy, he said: “Our enemies have tried several times to bring the country’s economy to collapse, but, thank God, they have not succeeded.”
The Iranian economy minister said that in talks with economic officials from other countries, efforts would be made to identify new avenues and opportunities for expanding economic and trade relations, so that plans devised against Iran’s economy could be thwarted and the country could successfully overcome the current situation.
