Israeli Forces Kill Gaza Child, Displace Thousands in Al-Khalil, Torch Homes in Lebanon

GAZA/BEIRUT (Dispatches) –
Israeli forces continued military aggression across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and southern Lebanon on Friday, leaving casualties and displacement in their wake despite ceasefire agreements nominally in effect on multiple fronts.
In Gaza, a child identified as Yamen Hisham Yahya Saqr, 8, died Friday from wounds sustained in an Israeli shooting in the Qizan Rashwan area south of Khan Younis earlier in the week, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Israeli drones also dropped bombs south of Khan Yunis and military vehicles opened heavy fire east of Hamad City. Overnight, an Israeli helicopter fired at least one missile at an apartment in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, injuring two Palestinians.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said 1,574 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025.
In the West Bank, Israel’s military offensive in Hebron (Al-Khalil) entered its eighth consecutive day on Friday. Israeli forces raided the Jilada and Ain Deir Baha neighborhoods, forcing dozens of Palestinians to evacuate their homes.
Al-Khalil Municipality said the offensive has displaced 4,969 Palestinians from 780 families, while the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society reported 110 kidnappings by Israeli forces in the governorate since the operation began.
In the Qalandiya refugee camp north of Al-Quds, Israeli forces wounded two children—a 15-year-old shot in both legs and a 12-year-old injured by bullet fragments, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli forces set fire to homes in the town of Al-Qantara on Friday and conducted sweeping operations with machine-gun fire in Al-Qantara and Khiam, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
Israeli artillery also shelled the area between Mifdoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiya, despite a disgraceful U.S.-brokered framework agreement signed in June.
In Syria, violence tied to Jolani’s government flared on multiple fronts. In the southern province of Suweida, clashes erupted late Thursday between Druze self-defense units and Jolani’s security forces, with both sides deploying artillery and mortars along the Al-Majdal–Tell Hadid line, damaging residential areas and causing civilian casualties, according to Syria TV.
The incident marked the eighth violation of the ceasefire in Suweida since inter-communal violence in July 2025 killed over 1,600 people.
Separately, Syrian broadcaster al-Ikhbariya reported Friday that a customs police patrol was ambushed on the Homs–Tartous road, killing one officer and wounding others, in an attack the General Authority for Ports and Customs attributed to “remnants of the former regime”.
In Idlib, tensions persisted between Syrian security forces and a camp housing French foreign fighters near Harem. A French terrorist was killed and a civilian injured Wednesday when security forces confronted armed members of the group, which is affiliated with Firqat al-Ghuraba, led by Omar Omsen.
