Output at Three Oil Fields Tops 127,000 Barrels Daily

TEHRAN — Daily production at three oil fields in western Iran has risen to 127,000 barrels, surpassing a 120,000-barrel contractual commitment by a Russian company developing them, the head of Iran’s Oil Engineering and Development Company said.
Nasrollah Zarei said output from the Paydar-e Sharq, Cheshmeh Khosh and Dalpari fields stood at about 41,000 barrels per day when the current government took office.
Zarei said the Russian company’s performance in carrying out the projects has been satisfactory. With the contractual target met, he said, plans call for raising output beyond the committed level and maintaining production volumes.
He said the Aban and Paydar-e Gharb project is in its final stages and needs about another year to complete. The second project, which is larger and covers Cheshmeh Khosh, Dalpari and Paydar-e Sharq, is proceeding on schedule, with about two more years of work expected.
Zarei also stressed the company’s environmental commitments, saying all of its projects include an environmental annex and that no work begins before the necessary permits are obtained. He said the purpose of environment-related meetings is to provide transparency and inform the public about completed work and future plans. He credited the supportive approach of Oil Ministry officials for helping the company meet environmental requirements.
On social responsibility, Zarei said the company has commissioned social studies under two contracts with universities and produced a film about its activities.
The three fields are in western Iran, within the operating area of the Western Oil and Gas Production Company, and entered production in 2011. The contract to develop them was signed in February 2020 with the participation of Russian and Iranian companies, and work began in 2020 after the necessary permits were issued. The project aims to increase and sustain crude oil output and improve use of the reservoirs’ capacity.
