Israel Kills Civilians, Displaces Thousands in Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria
GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) --
Israeli forces conducted airstrikes and ground invasions across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, southern Lebanon and southern Syria on Monday, killing civilians, displacing thousands and drawing condemnation over ceasefire violations.
In southern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike hit a camp for displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, killing three Palestinians including a seven-year-old girl, civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said.
Nasser Hospital said their bodies were torn apart by shrapnel. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported two Palestinians, including a child, killed when bombardment struck tents in the Al-Iqlimi area.
Bassal said 11 people were killed and 50 wounded across Gaza in the preceding 24 hours. Drones struck eastern Khan Younis and opened fire on tents in Deir al-Balah, wounding at least one woman.
A security source said tanks and a bulldozer advanced west of the Yellow Line in eastern Deir al-Balah amid heavy gunfire toward residential areas.
Since the October 2025 sham ceasefire, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry, with the overall toll since October 2023 exceeding 74,500.
In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military continued a large-scale operation in Hebron (Al-Khalil) for a fourth day, with the municipality reporting 3,189 displaced, including more than 200 infants, since Saturday.
A relief committee put the figure at about 2,649. The operation followed a Friday shooting in which two Palestinians killed two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint in a heroic operation.
Troops entered the Ein Deir Baha neighborhood where the martyred assailants lived and ordered residents to leave. Reinforcements arrived in the Al-Jilda area where soldiers seized Palestinian vehicles, local sources said.
Forces also divided a street in Jabal al-Rahma between Palestinians and Israeli settlers. Terrorist war minister Israel Katz acknowledged around 2,000 Palestinians had been displaced, saying they would not return until “Hamas infrastructure” was dismantled.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society said 50 Palestinians had been kidnapped in Al-Khalil since Friday.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli artillery and aircraft struck multiple villages despite a June ceasefire framework. Lebanese state media reported artillery fire on the Marjeyoun plain and airstrikes on Wadi al-Hujeir and Kfar Tebnit, while a drone fired two projectiles at a house in Mayfadoun.
Artillery also shelled Mansouri, Majdal Zoun and the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, the National News Agency reported.
Israeli forces carried out a large explosion in Yahmar al-Shaqif, and Merkava tanks conducted heavy machine-gun sweeps at the edge of Aita al-Jabal.
Israel raised its alert ahead of Tuesday’s elections. Since March 2, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407, with more than one million displaced.
In southern Syria, Israeli forces continued bulldozing farmland west of al-Hanout Farm in Quneitra province to extend a military barrier Damascus calls a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement, part of the “Sufa 53” project.
SANA reported troops entered northern Quneitra on Sunday and set up a temporary checkpoint between Jubata al-Khashab and Ain al-Bayda.
On Monday, Israeli warplanes conducted intensive low-altitude flights over Quneitra, the occupied Golan Heights and the Yarmouk Basin, coinciding with military maneuvers, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, raising concerns about expanded operations.
Since Assad’s fall in December 2024, Israel has repeatedly entered southern Syria after voiding the 1974 agreement and occupying the buffer zone.
