QatarEnergy Turns to U.S. Gas as War Cripples Its Own Production
DOHA (Dispatches) -- QatarEnergy said it signed a deal with U.S. firm Cheniere Energy to buy 4 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas through 2054, split evenly between Cheniere’s Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi plants, with deliveries beginning in the early 2030s.
The agreement aims to meet customer obligations after Qatar’s Ras Laffan facility was damaged and LNG exports were disrupted through the Strait of Hormuz in the wake of the U.S.-Israeli terrorist war on Iran, Bloomberg reported. QatarEnergy holds a majority stake in the U.S. Golden Pass plant.
