Government Reviews Rebuilding of War-Damaged Oil, Gas Facilities

TEHRAN — Iran’s Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed the latest steps to rebuild refineries and oil and gas facilities damaged in the third imposed war, particularly in the South Pars region.
The meeting, chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, heard a report on the measures taken to restore facilities across the country, the president’s office said.
Officials stressed the need to speed up reconstruction, coordinate among responsible agencies and keep up consistent follow-through on projects. The Cabinet decided that progress reports on the rebuilding will be submitted to it weekly so it can continually monitor the work, the pace of progress and the requirements for carrying it out.
Deputy oil minister for planning Ahmad Zera’atkar said that Iran has completed major repairs at the South Pars gas field, restoring damaged production capacity following attacks during the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, the country’s acting oil minister announced on Tuesday.
The official said that measures taken had enabled around 50 percent of South Pars’ damaged capacity to return to service by late September, with production resuming in the restored sections.
Meanwhile, fuel reserves for power plants have reached 90 percent, up 25 percent from the same period last year. The restoration of South Pars’ production capacity and the increase in power plant fuel reserves are expected to help ensure a stable energy supply and reduce the gap between energy supply and demand during Iran’s winter season.
South Pars gas field facilities, along the Persian Gulf, were among the country’s energy infrastructure targeted in attacks during the U.S.-Zionist regime war against Iran.
