Hypocrisy or Hollowness of Minds
By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer
The events in Yemen are a purely internal matter unrelated to its neighbours and other countries, whether of the region or beyond it.
It is a conflict – if it could really be called a conflict – between a government led by an all popular movement and commanding the loyalty of millions and a breakaway faction in the south with no support from the people but solely dependent on outside forces for its survival.
In other words, if the meddlers and manipulators as well as the deceived or devilish global agencies decided to end interference, stopped supply of weapons to the mischief-makers, and dropped the misnomer “internationally recognized government” for the rebels in Aden, peace will immediately return to Yemen, with neither the unnecessary loss of life and destruction of the infrastructure.
The enemies of the Arab people and the Islamic Ummah, especially the US and the illegal Zionist entity, do not want peace to prevail and desire instability for the region by backing the military measures of the meddlers and projecting the defenders and their right to retaliate against the aggressor, as terrorism.
This is nothing but sheer hypocrisy to label the lawful, legal, and legitimate government in Sana’a as the cause of the crisis when the real culprit is Saudi Arabia, whose raining of death and destruction on Yemen is being ignored, while the retaliation of the so-called ‘Houthis’ is condemned.
Whether it is Turkey or Pakistan, which have signed an unnecessary defence pact with Saudi Arabia, or whether it is Egypt, which says it is ready to help Riyadh, these countries should be realistic.
They should first condemn the more than a decade long Saudi war on Yemen, instead of threatening Yemen and shedding unnecessary tears over the right of the Ansarallah movement to retaliate against military/industrial targets as well as airports in Saudi Arabia.
Such an attitude is either hypocrisy or hollowness of minds that fail to discern ground realities.
The people of Muslim countries are angry against their governments, as is clear by the opposition against sending of troops to Saudi Arabia.
The most vocal public opposition to governmental hypocrisy or hollowness of mind is in Iraq, whose prime minister unwittingly denounced the targeting of Saudi airports and refineries by the defenders of Yemen, without saying a word about Riyadh’s almost daily destruction of the infrastructure and the massacre of people in its southern neighbour.
Iraqi News networks, political parties, the popular militias and moreover Friday Prayer Leaders with mass following have questioned Ali az-Zaidi for such an undiplomatic attitude towards a regional crisis that should be defused instead of being fanned to the benefit of the US and Israel, through uttering of irrational remarks.
In short, if hypocrisy or hollowness of mind continues, the fighting will certainly spiral out of control with irreparable damage to the two sides, especially to oil-rich Saudi Arabia and the world economy.
