Pakistan Closes Trade at Rimdan–Gabd Border Crossing With Iran

TEHRAN – Commercial activity at the Rimdan–Gabd border crossing between Iran and Pakistan has been suspended, while passenger traffic through the crossing remains operational.
Seyed Hussein Husseini, director general of the Transit Office at Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, said that commercial operations at the border crossing had been halted.
His remarks came after conflicting reports emerged in recent days about Pakistan’s closure of the crossing, with some sources denying the reports.
The Joint Iran-Pakistan Think Tank also said that the closure from the Pakistani side was confirmed during a direct conversation on Saturday morning between its director, Muhammad Hussein Bagheri, and Pakistan’s ambassador to Tehran.
Officials from both countries have yet to explain the reason for the suspension of commercial activity at the border crossing.
