Tehran Rejects German Conviction Linking Iran to Plot Against Jewish Figures

BERLIN — Iran’s embassy in Germany on Friday rejected a Hamburg court ruling that convicted two men of plotting attacks on Jewish figures on behalf of Tehran, calling the allegations “baseless, invalid, and rejected”.
The embassy was responding to a Reuters query regarding Thursday’s verdict by the Hamburg State Court, which sentenced a Danish citizen of Afghan origin to eight and a half years and an Afghan national to four and a half years for allegedly preparing attacks against pro-Israel figures and spying on Jewish targets.
The court claimed that the main defendant was recruited by Iran’s intelligence service and integrated to carry out attacks in Germany under Iran’s direction.
The embassy stated it had “explicitly declared in official positions dated July 1, 2025, and May 23, 2026, that the Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects the accusations raised in this regard and any alleged attribution, considering them baseless, invalid, and rejected”.
Emphasizing Iran’s historical tradition of peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions, the embassy said respect for Abrahamic faiths, including Jews worldwide, “has deep and firm roots in the history, culture, and religious beliefs of the Iranian people.”
The embassy criticized Western

double standards on the security of religious followers, citing silence over an attack on a Tehran synagogue.
It referenced a missile strike on April 7, 2026, by “American and Israeli warmongers” on the Rafinia Synagogue in Tehran, stating that the same circles now accusing Iran “not only remained silent in the face of threats to the lives of Jewish citizens and attacks on their religious sites, but also supported the aggressive actions”.
The embassy called this contradiction “a clear example of double standards, hypocritical behavior, and instrumental exploitation of religious and security issues to advance political agendas.”
“Undoubtedly, the informed people of Germany are capable of distinguishing between propaganda claims and facts on the ground and properly assessing the motives and objectives of such scenarios,” it said.
