IRGC Vows ‘Harsh Vengeance’ After Female Basij Commander Martyred
TEHRAN -- The commander of the IRGC’s Salman Corps in Sistan-Baluchestan vowed Wednesday that the perpetrators and masterminds behind the assassination of a female Basij commander would face “a harsh and regretful vengeance,” after she was shot dead in front of her home in the border county of Mehrestan.
Afsaneh Aqila, commander of the Women’s Basij District in Mehrestan, was assassinated at noon
Wednesday in front of her personal residence, according to IRNA.
In a message of condolence, Brigadier General Ahmad Shafaei, commander of the Salman Corps, condemned the “barbaric crime” committed by “mercenary terrorists of America and the Zionist regime.”
“The terrorist crime of mercenary terrorists and the violation of the sanctity of a Basij woman will not go unanswered, and its perpetrators and masterminds will face decisive consequences for their actions,” Shafaei said.
He said the martyrdom of Aqila at the hands of “mercenary terrorists of America and the Zionist regime” is a “barbaric crime and a clear sign of the cruelty of enemies who do not even spare women who serve the people.”
The commander said the origin of the crimes must be sought in the hegemonic policies of the United States and the Zionist regime, which he said use their “mercenaries and servants” to destabilize and strike at the Iranian nation.
“This crime will not go unanswered, and its perpetrators and masterminds must await a harsh and regretful vengeance and the decisive consequences of their criminal actions,” Shafaei said.
