Terrorist Convicted Over Wartime Attacks Executed in Kerman

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- A
terrorist convicted of armed attacks during the 40-day war with the United States and Israel was executed in Kerman on Wednesday, as the judiciary detailed extensive foreign-backed support for the operative.
Ali Sina Mostafavi, 38, was hanged after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence. The judiciary said he was an “agent of the American-Zionist enemy” and an active member of a “monarchist terrorist” organization with extensive connections to hostile media outlets.
Investigators said Mostafavi communicated with Israel’s Persian-language Instagram account and sent footage of sites struck by enemy projectiles to anti-Iranian networks.
He had also expressed readiness to carry out terrorist operations at Kerman airport, according to the judiciary. Security forces seized a scoped Brno sniper rifle, 246 cartridges and 30 Molotov cocktails from his hideout.
The case forms part of a broader pattern of foreign-backed terrorist activity. The United States and Israel have been arming and directing separatist and terrorist groups operating inside Iran, particularly in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In Sistan-Baluchestan province, a commander of the women’s Basij unit and a police officer were martyred Wednesday in two separate attacks. Afsaneh Aqila was shot dead in front of her house in Mehrestan County, while First Sergeant Muhammad Ali Shahriari was martyred when gunmen opened fire on his police vehicle in the same area.
The killings came a day after an IRGC operation near Zahedan freed
a kidnapped engineer and killed five members of a kidnapping cell. One IRGC serviceman was martyred in the clashes.
In recent months, the IRGC has announced multiple operations against terrorist cells in the region. In August, forces captured a member of a group linked to Israel and the United States, confiscating weapons and explosives.
The IRGC has said that takfirist and separatist factions, often funded by the Mossad and CIA, attempt to exploit the rugged border terrain to carry out assassinations and sabotage.
Iranian officials have also pointed to Israeli media reports revealing a Mossad plan to train thousands of separatist forces for infiltration into Iran, a scheme reportedly halted three days after the war began following a U.S. warning.
U.S. President Donald Trump has acknowledged that Washington attempted to send weapons to protesters through Kurdish separatist groups.
