Parliament to Vote Today on Defense Minister Nominee
TEHRAN -- Iran’s parliament will hold an in-person, secret-ballot vote on Sunday, to confirm Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi as defense minister, a member of the parliament’s presiding board said Saturday.
Lawmaker Alireza Salimi said the process will follow internal regulations, with unnamed ballots issued to lawmakers. President Masoud Pezeshkian nominated Ketabchi, a 67-year-old defense industry executive, on October 5.
