Children’s Film Festival Crowns ‘Shootinga’ Best Children’s Film
TEHRAN -- Shootinga emerged as one of the leading winners at the 38th International Film Festival for Children and Youth, taking the directing award for Arash Moayerian and the best children’s film prize at the festival’s closing ceremony on Thursday.
Held at the Isfahan International Conference Center, the ceremony marked the conclusion of the annual Iranian festival, which celebrates filmmaking for younger audiences across live-action cinema, animation and television.
Seyed Abbas Salehi, Iran’s minister of culture and Islamic guidance, attended alongside Raed Faridzadeh, head of the Cinema Organization of Iran, festival director Hamed Jafari and other cultural officials.
Produced by Amir Rahimzadeh, Shootinga received the Golden Butterfly for best directing for Moayerian, as well as the award for best children’s film. The film also secured recognition in technical categories: Hassan Ayoubi received an honorary diploma for editing, while Amir Vali-Khani and Reza Mahmoudian won the Golden Butterfly for visual effects.
The awards underscored the film’s broad success across the festival’s principal competition categories. A musical fantasy produced by the Farabi Cinema Foundation, Shootinga features Ali Foroutan, Muhammad Moslemi, Hamid Goli, Maryam Khodarahmi, Soroush Jamshidi and Shohreh Soltani, alongside younger performers Delvin Nik-Rezaei and Atra Tavousian.
Elsewhere, Aroos-e Cheshmeh (Bride of the Spring) received the award for best youth film, with Fereydoun Najafi recognized as producer. Danial Jafari won the Golden Butterfly for best youth actor for his performance in the film.
Kooch (Migration) also featured among the winners. Amirreza Muhammadi Soleimani received the award for best child actor for his performance in the film, while director Muhammad Esfandyari received the Shaheed Behnam Muhammadi Peace Award for Kooch. Davoud Rahmani was recognized for cinematography on the production.
In animation, Emad Rahmani and Mehrdad Mehrabi received the Golden Butterfly for Negahbanan-e Khorshid (Guardians of the Sun), adding another major title to the festival’s list of award-winning productions.
