U.S. Sanctions 17 Ships Linked to Iran
TEHRAN – The U.S. Treasury Department has announced new sanctions targeting Iran, placing 17 vessels on its sanctions list over their alleged involvement in transporting Iranian oil and petroleum products.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement that Washington was seeking to restrict Iran’s oil revenues. He claimed, “We will continue to expose those facilitating their oil sales.”
According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the sanctioned vessels are registered under the flags of more than 12 jurisdictions and have been involved in transporting millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemicals.
The move comes as part of Washington’s broader sanctions policy targeting Iran’s oil sector and maritime networks linked to the country.
