Houthi: We Are Inflicting the Harshest Blows on Saudi Forces
SANA’A (Dispatches) -- The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, declared in a televised speech on Thursday night that Yemeni forces are now capable of striking targets across the Red Sea and Arabian Sea from any point inside Yemen, and warned Saudi Arabia that continued aggression will cost it its oil exports and expose its military bases to attack.
Speaking on the 10th anniversary of the Saudi-American coalition’s bombing of the Great Hall in Sana’a in 2016 — an attack that killed and wounded around 1,000 people — al-Houthi said: “Our position is strong, and we are inflicting the harshest blows on Saudi forces.”
He added that “the more Saudi Arabia insists on aggression and blockade, the more it will suffer.”
He stated that Saudi Arabia is already losing oil exports and that its oil facilities and military bases are being struck.
He also reaffirmed Yemen’s sovereignty over the Bab al-Mandeb region, saying: “The threat to international maritime security comes from the Saudi regime turning the Bab al-Mandeb area into a war zone.”
Al-Houthi said every Yemeni province has witnessed Saudi crimes against humanity and war crimes during the aggression, and that Riyadh has returned to its pattern of “brutally targeting students, women and children.”
He cited a recent airstrike on a wedding in Dhamar province that killed 49 people and wounded 70 others, saying “almost every day reminds people of the crimes the Saudi aggressor commits against the Yemeni people.”
Challenging Saudi Arabia’s religious claims, al-Houthi said: “The sword on the Saudi flag has never been drawn against the enemies of the Islamic Ummah, not even once.”
He asked: “When has this Saudi aggressor ever taken even one military stand against America or Israel?” He described the Saudi regime as acting “with the criminal methods of Zionism, not on behalf of Islam.”
He also issued a direct warning to Qatar, reminding Doha that its current support for Saudi actions could make it “a partner in injustice against the Yemeni people.”
He recalled the 2017 Persian Gulf crisis, noting that Qatar had joined the war on Yemen, yet Saudi Arabia responded not with gratitude but with political and economic blockade.
Al-Houthi said Saudi Arabia seeks to break the Yemeni people’s resolve and force them to surrender, but has failed.
“Twelve years of aggression show that every time the Saudi enemy sheds more Yemeni blood, the proud people of Yemen become more determined to confront the aggressor,” he said.
He reaffirmed Ansarullah’s readiness to support the Palestinian people “at the highest level of options and positions” in the event of any future Israeli escalation.
