TEHRAN - Iran’s judoka Elyas Parhizga (-81kg) has been eliminated from the 2026 Senior World Judo Championships in Baku.

On the fourth day of the World Judo Championships on Wednesday, Elyas Parhizgar, Iran's only representative in the under-81kg category, stepped onto the tatami.

The tournament, which runs through October 11, features 622 judokas from 93 countries, including 335 men and 287 women.

Parhizgar, who had finished fifth at the Asian Games in Nagoya just days earlier, received a bye in the first round of the Baku World Championships. He subsequently faced Slovenia's Herkovič but lost the bout, resulting in an early exit from the tournament.
