U.S. Issues Visas for Iranian U-23 Wrestling Teams for World Championships
TEHRAN - The United States has issued entry visas for the athletes and coaching staff of Iran’s Under-23 freestyle and Greco-Roman national wrestling teams ahead of the World Championships in Las Vegas, though one coach has yet to receive clearance.
With only six days remaining before the start of the U-23 World Wrestling Championships, U.S. authorities approved visas for nearly the entire Iranian sports delegation.
The Iranian Wrestling Federation is currently pursuing the case of the single coach whose visa was withheld, with U.S. officials reportedly pledging cooperation to resolve the issue promptly.
Iran’s U-23 Greco-Roman national team departed Tehran for Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon before traveling onward to the United States for the competitions.
The U-23 freestyle wrestling squad will depart for the United States next week.
