Israeli Forces Raid Quneitra, Shell Lebanon as Syria Violence Mounts

BEIRUT/DAMASCUS (Dispatches) — Israeli forces continued military aggression across Lebanon and Syria on Wednesday, while Syria's interim regime faced mounting internal violence under the leadership of Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, a former deputy to both Al-Qaeda and Daesh.

In southern Lebanon, Israeli drones conducted at least two strikes on the town of Kafr Tebnit, while artillery shelled Deir Sirian and tanks targeted the outskirts of Hadatha.

Israeli forces also continued large-scale demolition operations in the town of Khiam, with explosions heard throughout the night.

In southern Syria, Israeli forces raided Jabata al-Khashab in the northern Quneitra countryside, shooting a young man in the foot before kidnapping him.

The raid followed a pattern of ongoing Israeli incursions in Quneitra and Dara’a provinces, areas that frequently witness raids and detentions. Israeli forces also targeted agricultural lands west of Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Dara’a countryside.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israel has conducted 92 strikes inside Syrian territory since the beginning of 2026 — six airstrikes and 86 ground attacks — targeting approximately 13 sites and killing six people.

Under the takfiri regime led by Jolani, violence has persisted across multiple provinces. In northern Aleppo, renewed clashes between internal security forces and Jolani’s forces around Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh left at least seven civilians dead and more than 50 wounded.

In Daraa's Sanamayn district, Jolani’s forces conducted raid and search operations in the western neighborhood, prompting friction with local women protesting the house raids.

The operations came amid ongoing tensions following deadly clashes in mid-September that killed three internal security members.

Across Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented 35 violent deaths in less than a week since early October, including 12 murders, seven sectarian assassinations, and deaths from indiscriminate gunfire and landmine explosions.

A mass grave containing the remains of 10 people was discovered in Aleppo's Tishreen neighborhood, the 25th such grave found since the beginning of the year.

Al-Jolani's governance has faced persistent accusations of failing to protect civilians. The violence underscores the fragile security situation across Syria as Israeli atrocities continue unabated in the south.
