Two Terrorists Eliminated for Martyring Four Officers in Isfahan

TEHRAN -- Two men convicted of martyring four police officers during the January 8, 2026 coup attempt in the central city of Isfahan were executed Monday, the judiciary’s media centre said.
Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raisi were hanged after the Supreme Court upheld their death sentences, the judiciary said.
The two were “among the criminal elements of the Isfahan case whose brutal and savage actions led to the martyrdom of four members of the security forces”, it said.
The judiciary said the men were convicted of “corruption on earth,” “waging war against God” by drawing weapons and spreading fear, membership in a “rebel group,” and acting against national security. It said the sentences were carried out on Sunday morning.
According to the judiciary’s account, the events took place during the U.S.-Israeli coup on Jan. 8, 2025, in Isfahan, when four members of the special police unit were martyred.
The report said a group of rioters armed with firearms, knives, machetes, axes and Molotov cocktails attacked people and security forces, burned buildings including a police station, and turned the area into a scene of terror and insecurity.
The judiciary said that the officers were martyred in a brutal manner and that their bodies were desecrated afterwards, with the attackers dancing on the bodies of the martyrs for three hours.
The report identified Sepahi as the “most important perpetrator” of the terrorist crime, saying he set a police officer on fire while the officer was still alive. It said a search of his home found four machetes, five knives, a stun gun, an axe and a metal baton.
He told investigators he had learned of the calls to take to the

streets through satellite television and the London-based Persian-language terrorist network Iran International, and had worn a mask and black clothing in line with “security protocols” mentioned on the channel.
Raisi made phone calls from the scene in which he described killing and burning officers, and sent images and videos of the terrorism to outlets including Israel’s Persian-language service, Iran International and Manoto TV.
The judiciary said 20 defendants took part in a reconstruction of the scene and that most had confessed, including Sepahi’s mother, who it said confirmed that Sepahi and his cousin Abolfazl Sepahi led the crowd. Abolfazl Sepahi was executed on July 28, 2025.
The Supreme Court confirmed the sentences after appeals by the two terrorists, the judiciary said, adding that the rulings were reviewed by judges who confirmed them based on the evidence and the heinous crime.
