Official: Aviation Sector Remains Fully Operational Despite U.S. Sanctions, Threats

TEHRAN - The Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has declared that the country’s aviation sector remains fully operational and undeterred despite facing unprecedented sanctions, military threats, and airspace closures.
Speaking at a press conference detailing the current state of the nation’s airspace, Aboozar Shiroodi emphasized that the Iranian aviation sector is no stranger to economic warfare, having navigated the cutting edge of restrictive measures for the past 47 years.
“Recently, the U.S. has targeted this industry with sanctions. It is obvious that our enemies are seriously and resolutely seeking to ground the country’s aviation sector, and they have demonstrated this in practice,” Shiroodi stated.
However, the reality on the ground demonstrates enduring resilience. “Despite all the sanctions, the aviation sector is powerfully carrying out its work, and the Americans will take the dream of grounding the country’s aviation industry to the grave,” he asserted.
As proof of this operational continuity, the official announced that flights to a neighboring country, which had been temporarily suspended, successfully resumed on Sunday following administrative follow-ups.
Highlighting the profound operational challenges the sector has faced, Shiroodi pointed out that the industry has not experienced a single “normal” day since the onset of the 12-day war, constantly grappling with either new sanctions, direct threats, or closed airspace.
He recalled the severe escalations during the Ramadhan war, explicitly stating that the U.S.-Zionist enemy deliberately targeted civilian aviation infrastructure, including passenger aircraft, airport terminals, flight runways, and radar systems.
The official also condemned the recent imposition of coordinated sanctions against 27 civilian airlines, emphasizing that the primary victims of these hostile measures are ordinary citizens whose daily lives and travel arrangements are directly disrupted.
