IRGC Declares Era of Cost-Free Threats Against Iran Over
TEHRAN -- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps declared on Friday that the era of cost-free threats against Iran has ended, warning that any aggression will draw a “painful and regret-inducing” response as it marked the second anniversary of Operation True Promise II.
In a statement, the IRGC called the 2024 operation a “historic and lasting epic,” saying the IRGC Aerospace Force demonstrated Iran’s resolve to avenge the assassinations of resistance commanders — including Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan — by striking the heart of the occupied territories with waves of precision missiles and drones.
The operation, it said, exposed the “humiliating collapse” of the Israeli regime’s “hollow power” and delivered a clear message: “the era of cost-free threats is over and any aggression will be followed by a painful and regret-inducing response.”
The IRGC credited the “astonishing power” of Iran’s armed forces during the 12-day and 40-day imposed wars with forcing Washington to beg for a ceasefire. It pledged to remain “with its finger on the trigger,” ready to respond more lethally than Operation True Promise II to any miscalculation by the United States and its regional proxies.
Separately, Brigadier General Muhammad-Reza Naghdi, a senior advisor to the IRGC chief commander, said Washington has already deployed the full extent of its military capabilities against Iran without success.
“If the Americans act according
to their own interests, they will stop their military attacks against us, unless they want to commit suicide,” Naghdi said. “This was the full extent of America’s capabilities over the past seven months, and it failed.”
He said U.S. aircraft carriers — once symbols of American military might — “have now turned into floating, aimless prisons at sea,” noting that no U.S. Navy frigate has docked at the Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain for seven months.
He also said U.S. forces must choose between an honorable withdrawal from West Asia or a humiliating defeat akin to Afghanistan.
Major General Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated victory claims, writing on X that “after one failure after another, the worst president in American history just keeps talking.”
He added: “You can win every day in your own imagination. But reality is shaped by Iran—by its people, its soldiers, and its missiles.”
Trump told reporters on Thursday that Iran would either sign “a very fair deal” or “won’t exist any longer,” echoing a threat made at the UN General Assembly last week.
