TEHRAN - Deputy head of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) Hamidreza Azimi ON Monday announced that the Iran’s renewable power plant capacity has exceeded 6,000 megawatts.  
Azimi said that the country’s renewable power plant capacity has exceeded 6,000 megawatts. He noted that solar power plants account for over 5,400 megawatts of this total, with solar capacity having increased more than sevenfold over the past two years.
Highlighting the rapid expansion of renewable power plants aimed at mitigating the electricity supply-demand imbalance, he added: “Alongside the expansion of renewable generation capacity, we are placing special emphasis on the domestic manufacturing of key power plant equipment and the development of the industry’s domestic supply chain.”
The official continued, the energy ministry entered the manufacturing chain for renewable power plants—particularly solar facilities—covering areas such as mounting structures, panels, inverters, and related equipment.
He went on, SATBA seeks to increase the share of domestic production for these components within the country’s manufacturing output.
Referring to measures taken regarding the production of mounting structures, he stated: “Effective steps have been taken in this area in recent months, and we hope that by the end of the year, a portion of the requirements for constructing the country’s power plants will be met by domestic structure manufacturing plants.”
“Bringing renewable energy equipment manufacturing plants into operation can pave the way for reducing the country’s reliance on foreign equipment supplies and strengthening the domestic manufacturing supply chain”, Azimi said.
