TEHRAN – A member of the Parliament Energy Committee said that, through coordination in the Energy Imbalance Resolution headquarters and the government’s unified management, the necessary steps have been taken to complete strategic liquid-fuel storage at power plants so the country can get through the cold season steadily.
Hamidreza Azizi Farsani, referring to meetings between the Energy Committee and the Energy Imbalance Resolution headquarters, said that as the cold season nears, power plant fuel supply has become a higher priority for decision-making bodies than ever before. The committee has therefore put close monitoring of secondary fuel supply lines on its agenda, so that the strategy of relying as much as possible on alternative fuel to keep the country’s electricity generation capacity stable is carried out in practice.
Azizi Farsani said power plants’ fuel baskets are adjusted to weather conditions and the amount of gas delivered. Under the coordination reached in the headquarters and the single management structure formed in government, appropriate steps have been taken to complete strategic storage. According to the latest figures, power plant fuel tanks are currently in good condition. This level of storage provides a high degree of reliability, and with joint planning by the Oil and Energy ministries, he said, the coming winter can be passed with minimal problems.
Azizi Farsani said that with energy consumption management programs launched by the government and executive bodies, all agencies and offices are required to cut energy use, and the process is under continuous monitoring. He stressed that a stable energy supply on cold days requires broad solidarity. Although officials are using all their capacity to boost production and fuel storage, a smooth passage through winter is possible only if everyone helps keep the gas and electricity networks stable through smart conservation.
