BEIRUT (Dispatches) -- Israeli occupation forces launched a wave of airstrikes, artillery shelling, and deliberate demolitions across southern Lebanon on Sunday, in what Israel described as a response to an explosive-laden drone launched by Hezbollah toward its forces in the so-called “security zone.”
Israeli army spokesperson Ella Waweya stated on X that Hezbollah operatives launched an explosive drone overnight Saturday toward Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon. 
In response, the Israeli air force struck several areas, with the Zionist military warning that “any use of force from Lebanese territory aimed at harming Israeli citizens or soldiers will be met with very strong response”.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported widespread strikes overnight. Israeli warplanes targeted Nabatieh al-Fawqa, the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit, and the town of Mayfadoun, where a house was completely destroyed. Concentrated artillery shelling struck Kfar Rumman, Wadi Zibqine, the outskirts of Mazraat al-Shoumeriya, and Al-Qusayr.
Heavy machine-gun fire targeted Beit Yahoun, Sirbine, and Wadi Zibqine. An Israeli Merkava tank fired four shells at Haddatha before Israeli forces advanced toward the town center and set fire to the area. 
In Mansouri, Israeli forces demolished several homes at dawn. An Apache helicopter struck a commercial center along the Shoukin–Mayfadoun road twice within ten minutes.
The escalation comes despite a disgraceful U.S.-brokered framework agreement signed between Lebanon’s puppet regime and Israel in June 2026, which has become a pretext for the occupying regime to continue its atrocities. 
The human cost continues to mount. As of September 27, over 4,300 people have been killed in Lebanon since March 2, 2026, with more than 12,000 wounded and approximately 1.5 million displaced. 
Earlier figures from March 2026 recorded 1,238 martyrs and 3,543 wounded, and by May 2026 the death toll had risen to 2,896, illustrating the steady escalation of casualties throughout the year.
The pattern is unmistakable: any act of legitimate defense by the resistance is met with disproportionate retaliation targeting civilian infrastructure, homes, and entire towns — a strategy aimed at making southern Lebanon uninhabitable and preventing the return of its displaced residents.
