SANA’A (Dispatches) -- Brutal Saudi bombing in Yemen resulted in a massacre in the country’s southwestern Ta’iz governorate on Sunday, with at least seven dead and dozens of others injured in the kingdom’s latest attacks. 
Multiple Yemeni media outlets reported on the deadly attack, which hit a market.
“Saudi enemy airstrikes targeted commercial shops at Ta’iz Central Market, resulting in the martyrdom of seven citizens and the injury of 40 others, according to an initial toll,” sources told SABA. 
The death toll is expected to rise. Saudi strikes hit other areas of the country on Sunday, including several attacks on the Maran district in Saada.
On Saturday night, the Ansarallah-led Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) released a statement announcing “27 airstrikes over the past 24 hours,” using jets that took off from the Khamis Mushait and Taif air bases in the kingdom. 
The YAF has repeatedly targeted both sites.
“The strikes targeted civilian infrastructure, including bridges, roads and other sites, in the provinces of Ta’iz, Mar’ib, Sa’ada, Amran, Ibb and Hajjah. This brings the total number of Saudi strikes and missile attacks since the start of the escalation to 1,059,” according to the YAF statement. 
Hours earlier, Yemeni military operations targeted sites within the kingdom. Riyadh announced online learning for schools after Sanaa escalated its strikes. 
Overnight, sirens were heard in the Saudi city of Jeddah. 
Sana’a has been retaliating heavily against Saudi Arabia’s deadly attacks on Yemen, striking military and energy sites inside the kingdom and inflicting significant losses on the Saudi energy sector. 
Yemen’s recent retaliatory actions against Saudi Arabia were triggered by the kingdom’s July attack on Sana’a International Airport, which has been under blockade by Riyadh for over a decade since it began its devastating war on Yemen in 2015, leading a coalition of Arab states.
Yemen has vowed to fully expel the Saudi-led coalition from Yemen.
Sanaa’s forces have captured much of the western Yemeni coast and have seized multiple Red Sea islands formerly occupied by the UAE this month. Saudi and UAE-backed fighters have taken severe losses. Sana’a has also taken Bab al-Mandab.
Yemen has vowed to continue the “escalation for escalation” and “blockade for blockade” equation.
