Lavrov Condemns Assassination of Leader in UN Address
UNITED NATIONS -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as “unacceptable” in his UN General Assembly address Saturday, calling it a display of dictatorship.
He also condemned attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying they dealt an “irreparable blow” to the IAEA’s credibility. Lavrov announced a Russian initiative for Persian Gulf peace and Hormuz de-escalation, calling for trust between Arab states and Iran.
