TEHRAN - Uzbekistan secured a 3-1 victory over Iran in a friendly football match on Thursday.
Eldor Shomurodov put Uzbekistan in front in the 10th minute, taking advantage of an error by an Iranian player.
Iran drew level in the 49th minute after a free kick.
Shomurodov restored Uzbekistan’s advantage in the 58th minute, converting a penalty to make it 2-1.
Husayn Norchaev completed the scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time, finding the net in the 90+4th minute for a 3-1 final score.
Iran internationals Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Saman Ghoddos will miss the national team’s upcoming friendly matches against Russia.
According to the Iranian federation, Jahanbakhsh, who recently returned from a short-term injury, will remain with Excelsior Rotterdam to complete his recovery and regain full physical fitness in coordination with the club and Iran’s coaching staff.
Ghoddos, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the camp due to a back injury.
Iran are scheduled to play Russia in friendly matches in September 29, 2026 as part of their preparations for upcoming international competitions.
