TEHRAN - Iranian 55kg boxer Mehdi Kazemi has kicked off his campaign at the 20th Asian Games with a victory.
Kazemi faced North Korea’s Yu Chun-ryong today, Tuesday, in Nagoya as the boxing competition at the 20th Asian Games continued. After three rounds, Kazemi secured a 4-1 victory and advanced to the next round.
In the next round, Kazemi faces a tough bout against the representative from Kazakhstan.
Earlier on Monday, Ali Habibinejad became the first Iranian boxer to step into the ring; he was eliminated after losing to an opponent from China.
The Iranian national boxing team traveled to Nagoya with a squad comprising five male and two female boxers.
