KABUL (Dispatches)  — The Taliban have dismissed reports of Al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan as propaganda aimed at undermining their government, insisting no foreign militant groups operate on Afghan soil.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, told TOLOnews that recent claims lack evidence. 
“These claims and propaganda may come from certain biased circles and intelligence groups that seek to fuel tensions and create scenarios of regional insecurity,” he said. 
“The reality is that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan does not allow this, and the facts on the ground show that there is no need for foreign groups to be present.”
The Washington Post, citing U.S. and Western intelligence officials and a United Nations body monitoring terrorist groups, reported that Al-Qaeda has re-established training camps in Afghanistan, 25 years after the September 11 attacks. 
The report claimed the group has opened at least eight training centers over the past three years.
The Taliban have repeatedly assured the international community that Afghan territory will not threaten other countries. 
Military analyst Yousuf Amin Zazai described the U.S. claims as politically motivated. 
“This is an exaggeration by the United States for political purposes, aimed at portraying the situation as sensitive once again and creating a justification for its presence in the region, while in reality this is not the case.”
The denial comes amid separate reports and analyses suggesting a more complicated picture. 
Some assessments have indicated that Daesh-K terrorists were transferred into Afghanistan from Syria under U.S. custody arrangements, with Washington facilitating their relocation after installing Abu Muhammad al-Jolani in Damascus. 
With the job done in Syria, Washington has been courting al-Jolani  as part of a broader realignment in Syria, even as it presses the Taliban over Al-Qaeda.
The United Nations Security Council has raised terrorism concerns, while the Taliban reject the allegations outright.
