TEHRAN — The Saadi Foundation is to hold an online workshop introducing non-Iranian learners of Persian to the aesthetics of Persian script and the relationship between the language, literature and visual arts of Iran.
The workshop, titled “Writing Beautifully in Persian Script,” will coincide with Iran’s National Calligraphy Day and is aimed at foreign learners interested in Persian language and culture.
Organized by the Saadi Foundation, the program will offer participants an introduction to the visual aesthetics of Persian writing while exploring calligraphy as a point of connection between language and literature and Iran’s artistic traditions.
The course will consist of five one-hour online sessions and will have limited capacity. Instruction will be provided by a specialist or experienced instructor in Persian calligraphy.
Participants must have a basic knowledge of Persian and be able to read and write simple Persian texts. They must also commit to attending all five sessions.
Applicants will be asked to complete a registration form providing information about their level of familiarity with Persian and calligraphy, as well as submitting a sample of their Persian handwriting.
Participation is free. Applications will remain open until September 25, and because places are limited, 10 participants will ultimately be selected from among the applicants.
The workshop will also include a practical creative component. Each participant is expected to produce a work of calligraphy in Persian during the course, with the resulting works to be presented through an online exhibition or gallery for the public.
The initiative forms part of the Saadi Foundation’s broader efforts to promote Persian language and culture among international learners. By combining language instruction with an introduction to a major Iranian visual-art tradition, the workshop offers participants an opportunity to encounter Persian through both its written form and its artistic expression.
