TEHRAN -- Iranian cinemas 
attracted nearly 400,000 viewers in the 24th week of the current Persian year, with the country’s box office generating 56.3 billion tomans, or about $281,610 at an exchange rate of $1 to 200,000 tomans.
According to figures from CinemaShahr, 399,766 people attended cinemas nationwide from Saturday, Aug. 29, through Friday, Sept. 4, generating total ticket sales of 56.322 billion tomans.
The Death Bath, directed by Kazem Daneshi, was the week’s most-watched film with 116,269 admissions. Kourosh Cinema Complex was the busiest venue, attracting 20,986 viewers.
Kourosh Cinema Complex recorded a 17% increase in attendance from the previous week, while Iran Mall Cinema Complex ranked second with 18,093 viewers, up 18%. Hadish Cinema Complex drew 11,540 viewers, an increase of 20%, followed by Azadi Cinema Complex with 9,927 viewers, up 11%. Honarshahr-e Aftab Cinema Complex in Shiraz rounded out the top five with 8,657 viewers, recording a 28% increase in attendance.
Among films, The Death Bath led the weekly rankings with 116,269 viewers, followed by The Pool, directed by Soroush Sehhat, with 108,749 admissions. The animated film Rescue Ship, directed by Hadi Muhammadian, ranked third with 55,140 viewers.
Napoleon in the Apricot Garden, directed by Hamed Muhammadi, placed fourth with 43,146 viewers, while Escort, directed by Yousef Hatamikia, ranked fifth with 33,661 admissions.
The latest figures marked the fourth consecutive week of rising cinema attendance. The industry recorded 251,000 viewers in the 21st week, 328,000 in the 22nd week, 325,000 in the 23rd week and 399,766 in the 24th week.
The four-week trend represents a sustained increase in cinema attendance, with weekly admissions approaching 400,000 and box office revenue exceeding 56 billion tomans in the latest reporting period.
