FM Araghchi Exposes Jordan’s Role in Terrorist U.S. Strikes on Iran
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday challenged Jordan’s account of Tehran’s military response to the United States, asking how long Iran was expected to wait before responding to an aggressor has violated both Iranian and Arab sovereignty.
Araghchi was responding to recent remarks by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, who accused Iran of attacking Jordan and other countries in the region just two hours after the start of the U.S. military aggression against Iran and described Tehran’s response as a “premeditated policy”.
In an Arabic-language post on X, Araghchi asked Safadi: “How much time does the Jordanian Foreign Minister believe Iran should wait before responding to an aggressor that respects neither Arab sovereignty nor Iranian sovereignty?
“And is he truly unaware that Arab airspace, lands, and waters were used in the initial American attacks that resulted in the killing of innocent Iranians?” Araghchi added.
The exchange followed a series of U.S. strikes on southern Iran on Sept. 1 that martyred and wounded dozens of people.
In Hormozgan province, U.S. missiles struck a residential building in Kouhestak, in Sirik County, where a wedding reception was being held.
At least five people were martyred and 68 wounded. Two children, aged four and 16, and two women were among those killed.
Seven other people were killed and eight wounded in U.S. missile strikes on three locations near the cities of Ahvaz and Aghajari in Khuzestan provinces.
Iranian armed forces subsequently launched a “crushing” operation against US military bases in Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) also said it had targeted Camp Titiin in Jordan, where a large number of U.S. personnel were killed.
Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned that any continuation of U.S. military action against Iran would trigger “heavier, broader and more devastating responses.”
“Any country that cooperates with the invading U.S. military must be prepared to face the dangerous consequences,” he added.
