2,577 Convicts Granted Pardons, Sentence Reductions
TEHRAN — Iran’s Judiciary chief has ordered pardons, sentence reductions and commutations for 2,577 convicts, following a request submitted to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei on the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad and Imam Jafar al-Sadiq.
The request, submitted by Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hussein Mohseni-Ejei, covered convicts from Iran’s general and revolutionary courts, the Armed Forces Judicial Organization and the Government Discretionary Punishments Organization. The Leader assigned the decision on the request to the judiciary chief.
