TEHRAN — The Tehran production of 
Wajdi Mouawad’s Incendies has concluded its run after drawing more than 22,000 spectators, while Bahram Beyzai’s Azhdahak is set to return to Tehran City Theatre this week. 
Meanwhile, the Tehran-Mobarak International Puppet Theatre Festival has extended its submission deadline, a playwriting workshop will focus on the role of language, and the theatrical-orchestral production Arash is offering a 20% ticket incentive.
Incendies, written by Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad and directed by Morteza Mirmontazemi, ended its run at the Main Hall of Tehran City Theatre on August 30 after 39 performances. The production, which opened on July 22, attracted 22,028 spectators and recorded sales of 13.99 billion tomans.
The cast included Setareh Pesyani, Abbas Jamali, Rima Raminfar, Reza Behboudi, Alireza Jafari, Farnoush Nikandish, Mohammadali Ebrahimi, Farzaneh Meydani, Kosar Mirzanejad, Akbar Soleimani, Mahshid Zabardast, Hadi Ahmadi and Bahram Ebrahimi. 
Mirmontazemi marked the closing with a
 tribute to the production’s cast and crew, praising their commitment to the demanding rehearsal and performance process.
Azhdahak, written by acclaimed Iranian playwright Bahram Beyzai and directed by Arash Ashadad, returns to the Workshop Theatre at Tehran City Theatre on September 1 following an earlier run from May 21 to June 18.
The new production stars Ashadad, Bahram Abbasi-Fard, Ava Ameri, Sara Zamani, Arash Rad and Kaveh Tavakoli. It will run through September 17 at 7:45 p.m., with a running time of 45 minutes and tickets priced at 250,000 tomans.
The 21st Tehran-Mobarak International Puppet Theatre Festival has extended the deadline for submitting production videos to September 8.
Works will be considered in four sections: children’s and young people’s stage productions, adult stage productions, open-air and unconventional performances, and the Khialnameh Minab section. 
The final selection is expected to be announced toward the end of September. The festival, headed by secretary Poopak Azimzadeh Tabrizi, is scheduled to take place in Tehran in October.
The International Resistance Theatre Festival will hold an online playwriting workshop titled The Function and Position of Language in Playwriting, led by playwright Rouzbeh Husseini.
The workshop, part of the festival’s “Resistance Horizons” program, will take place on September 5 and 8 at 6 p.m. The 20th International Resistance Theatre Festival is organized by the Theatre of Revolution and Sacred Defense Association of the Ravayat-e Fath Cultural Foundation and is headed by secretary Mohammad Kazemtbar.
The theatrical-orchestral production Arash, based on one of the best-known figures of Iranian mythology, will begin performances in the second week of September at the Royal Hall of Espinas Palace in Tehran.
Produced by Ali Mohtasham, directed by Ali Sarabi and written by Omid Sohrabi, the production combines theatre, music and live orchestral performance in a new staging of the story of Arash and its themes of identity, courage, love and choice.
Ticketing platform Articket is offering a 20% incentive to all purchasers, expanding an offer initially intended for selected groups including students, teachers, medical workers, firefighters and Red Crescent personnel. 
The approximately 140-minute production has been mounted as a large-scale theatrical and musical event, with its staging requirements reducing the number of seats available for sale.
