Ministry Launches North Khorasan’s Largest Solar Power Plant

TEHRAN - Iran has commissioned the largest solar power plant in North Khorasan province, with the 72-megawatt facility in Esfarayen County coming online as the country expands renewable energy capacity.
The plant was inaugurated in the presence of Iran’s energy minister on Sunday , marking another step in the expansion of solar power infrastructure and the development of renewable energy generation across the country.
Earlier, the largest rooftop solar power plant in Iran, with a capacity of 7 megawatts, was inaugurated in Pakdasht near capital Tehran.
The plant was inaugurated in the Abbas Abad Industrial Park in Pakdasht County in the presence of Shina Ansari, head of Iran’s Department of Environment.
Built with 10,000 domestically produced solar panels at a cost of more than 3 trillion rials, the facility generates enough electricity to meet the needs of around 4,000 households.
According to estimates, the plant’s environmental benefits are equivalent to planting 280,000 trees.
