Bahrainis Flood Sitra Streets to Condemn Abductions, Unfair Trials
MANAMA (Dispatches) -- Large crowds of people have demonstrated in Bahrain to protest a surge in civil rights abuses under the Al Khalifa regime, including mass detention of preachers and eulogists and a continued crackdown on the Shia community.
Demonstrators took to the streets on Sitra Island south of the capital Manama, denouncing the ongoing abduction campaigns targeting Shia scholars. The protesters condemned unfair trials, where scholars and other citizens are usually convicted of trumped-up charges.
