DAMASCUS (Dispatches) -- As former Daesh and Al-Qaeda deputy Abu Muhammad al-Jolani consolidates his grip on Syria, violence continues to plague the war-torn nation on multiple fronts. 
The past days have seen armed groups block students from accessing exam centers in the south, while Israeli forces expand their incursions and harassment operations across the southwest.
For the second consecutive day on Sunday, armed groups prevented students in Syria’s southern Suwayda province from reaching exam centers. 
According to Syrian broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya, “outlaw groups” established three new checkpoints on the Suwayda-Shahba road, blocking students from traveling to the northern countryside to take their exams.
Members of the groups reportedly attacked students who attempted to bypass checkpoints on foot. 
Suwayda Governor Mustafa al-Bakour confirmed that the illegal groups prevented students from leaving the city for exam centers, with tensions escalating into physical altercations and vehicle damage.
The armed groups are affiliated with Hikmat al-Hijri, a Druze leader who has called for Suwayda to break away from the central government and has established close ties with Israel, receiving public support from the Zionist regime. 
Al-Hijri’s forces have previously blocked students from reaching exam centers as part of efforts to paralyze public life in the province.
Across southern Syria, Israeli forces have intensified their military operations. On the night of August 27-28, Israeli  forces launched raids and searches across multiple areas in Daraa and Quneitra provinces, including incursions with military vehicles. 
In the village of Al-Arda in western Daraa, Israeli forces conducted raids, while a similar campaign was launched north of Kodna village in central Quneitra.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israeli forces entered the village of Bariqa in Quneitra countryside with several military vehicles, while more than three vehicles entered the area west of Saida al-Hanout. 
In a particularly disturbing incident, a force of more than 10 military vehicles accompanied by infantry entered the village of Jamla in the Yarmouk Basin, where they assaulted a civilian after tying him up in front of his house, sparking tension and resentment among residents.
Israeli drone flights have been reported over several villages and towns in the Yarmouk Basin area. A separate Israeli patrol also entered Taranja village in northern Quneitra on August 28 and searched a house.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing of at least two civilians, including one child, on August 29 by gunfire from unidentified sources in Daraa and Hama governorates. 
The organization warned of continued gaps in protection and accountability systems as the transitional phase fails to deliver stability.
