Jordan Arrests Journalist for Sharing Article Critical of U.S. Aid
AMMAN (Dispatches) -- Jordanian intelligence officers arrested Ali Younes, a Jordanian-American journalist and Drop Site News correspondent, for allegedly “undermining the national security” of the Hashemite kingdom by sharing an article on social media that called for cutting U.S. assistance to Amman.
Younes, a former Al Jazeera journalist, was detained upon his arrival at Queen Alia International Airport on August 17, where he was held for questioning prior to being released with orders to appear before prosecutors in Amman.
